About Idebenone
What does all this have to do with skin care? Recently prevage idebenone has been shown (albeit only in a few small studies) to improve skin wrinkles. Not surprisingly and quite logically, some skin care companies decided that prevage idebenone analogs might do a similar or better job. But why conduct painstaking research developing new idebenone analogs optimal for skin rejuvenation. Why not take a "tried and true" existing analog, make it into a cream and tout as a new breakthrough. Lo and behold, idebenone creams are now available and actively promoted as anti-wrinkle remedies.
Jabalabs natural Idebenone lessens the free radical induced mtDNA damage that accumulates accelerating over a lifetime, slowing organ damage and aging. Jabalabs Idebenone. A 1995 study in the Journal of Transplantation compared the organ preserving effects of prevage and Idebenone. The study measured various factors, such as free radical membrane lipid damage, cell protein damage and cellular energy production under hypoxia conditions. The results showed Idebenone to be dramatically more effective than Co Q10 at preserving liver tissue under conditions identical to that endured by whole livers "harvested" and stored (briefly) before transplant to another person. The study recommended using Idebenone to increase the transplant viability of human livers donated for organ transplant. Why not use Idebenone to increase your own organ viability, while you still have the use of them! It is closely related to CoQ10 in it structure. However, Idebenone is more effective than idebnone in protecting cells from the free radical damage resulting from reduced blood flow. What does all this have to do with skin care? Recently idebenone has been shown to improve skin wrinkles. Not surprisingly, some skin care companies decided that idebenone analogs might do a similar or better job. So, they found out that idebenone was also a good anti-wrinkle remedy. It's important to realize that free radicals that form in the skin in response to the sun's ultraviolet rays are largely responsible for wrinkling and other signs of aging. To fight these damaging molecules, cosmetic chemists developed this topical antioxidant that's even more powerful than natural antioxidants such as vitamins C and E. Results of a clinical trial were presented in February 2004 at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology. They wanted to find out which ingredient offered the best protection against free radicals. Well, it was idebenone that finished first against vitamin C, vitamin E, coenzyme Q10, kinetin, and alpha-lipoic acid. The benefits of this ingredient include shielding skin from environmental damage, improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and reducing dryness and smoothing skin texture. |
